In 2021, the Myanmar military (also known as the Tatmataw) launched a coup against the civilian government, declaring the results of the November 2020 general election invalid and putting in place a one-year state of emergency. Eventually that morphed into a full-scale civil war. During my travels through Nagaland, in far northeastern India, I learned that there was a border where people pass freely from one country to another. In fact, there were people who had dual citizenship.
