Tom Hanks and Wilson (the volleyball) were popular memes... way before memes were even a thing. This trailer is a concept trailer. It means it's not real. It's just made for fun and to be enjoyed. Concept trailers are often misunderstood. By taking existing footage, adding effects, voiceovers, music, and a lot of editing, a brand new narrative is created. This trailer is a bit of a throwback for me. I used to make these kinds of videos years ago (very effects heavy with lots of lame jokes). Now I focus on more realistic trailers. It was a fun video to make and I might go back to overly comedic style. "Cast Away," directed by Robert Zemeckis, stars Tom Hanks as Chuck Noland, a FedEx executive stranded on a remote island in the South Pacific after a plane crash.
