| Video Discription | On Saturday, May 27, 2023, at approximately 8:38PM, I Trooper Walker Morphis was patrolling in the area of United States Highway 82. While patrolling, I observed a red Ford Mustang, bearing Texas License Plate HRS8176. I ran that license plate through ACIC, and observed that it was registered to a Toyota 4-Runner. I initiated my emergency lights in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle for that observed violation. Initially, the operator of this vehicle, later identified as Ascari Johnson, pulled to the shoulder. However, he quickly accelerated back into the lane of travel. Mr. Johnson continued northbound towards Lake Village. I activated my siren and continued behind Mr. Johnson. I then pulled up beside Mr. Johnson to make sure my presence was known. Due to the close proximity to Lake Village city limits, and not knowing Mr. Johnson's intentions, the decision was made to perform a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) once in a safe location. I was able to successfully perform the TVI and Mr. Johnson was taken into custody without further incident. During an administrative inventory search of the vehicle, approximately 7.7 grams of suspected marijuana was located in the vehicle. Also located in the vehicle was a Texas Driver's License and two blanks checks. The driver's license and checks belonged to a Patrick Larkey out of Sachse, Texas. The Sachse Police Department was contacted, and confirmed a theft report which involved the items found in the car. The marijuana will be held at Troop F Evidence Vault, while the other items will be transferred back to Sachse, Texas. Mr. Johnson was charged with: Fleeing, Possession of a Controlled Substance Schedule VI, No Liability Insurance, Driving on Suspended License, Failure to Register, and Fictitious Tags. |
