With an updated ladder structure, the all-new Triton offers enhanced durability and performance. More or less percentage increases in torsional stiffness, it is now far more stable and durable.
The Mitsubishi Triton is a competitor in the midsize pickup truck market and is regarded as one of the most recognizable trucks in the Philippines. Mitsubishi chose to utilize the Triton name for its sixth generation, moving it in line with other markets that already used the Triton name.
The vehicle is equipped with a state-of-the-art 2.4-liter 4N16 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine. With 201 horsepower and 470 Nm of torque, the engine's iteration on the Athlete model displays its might. Meanwhile, the GL, GLX, and GLS variants provide a reasonable 181 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. An automated six-speed gearbox is mated to this engine. The 4x4 models benefit from the Super Select 4WD-II system from Mitsubishi, which enhances off-road performance with an active brake-controlled Limited Slip Differential (LSD).
Mitsubishi released seven different Triton models in the PH market. Top of the range Athlete 4x4 AT is available from Triton. Other models in the portfolio include GL 4x2 MT, GL 4x4 MT, GLX 4x2 MT, GLX 4x2 AT, and GLS 4x2 AT.
The newly designed ladder-frame chassis of Mitsubishi's pickup truck, which aims to provide more performance and ruggedness, is the largest improvement.
A revised double-wishbone front configuration and a lighter leaf spring system at the back are two of Mitsubishi's extensive suspension enhancements. Super Select 4WD-II models also come with an Active Yaw Control (AYC) function that applies the brake to the inside front wheel very gently to enhance cornering performance.
Along with amenities that make driving more comfortable and pleasurable, the Triton also comes with driving aids. These versions, which begin with the GL vehicles, come with 2DIN integrated audio systems that support USB and Bluetooth. An air conditioning system that is operated manually provides comfort. The eight-inch touchscreen on the GLX models, on the other hand, has Bluetooth, USB, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto access. The GLX series comes standard with cruise control, keyless entry, and single-zone automatic air conditioning.
A bold and redesigned front bumper define the sixth-generation Triton's design. A sophisticated version of Mitsubishi's Dynamic Shield design and split headlamps complement the front grille. As opposed to its former chrome finish, the grille in the Athlete trim has a body-colored appearance with black accents. More prominent sculpted lines above the fenders are seen on the sides. The truck's wider LED taillights, which extend to the sides, give it a more substantial look from the back.
The fully revamped Triton's interior exhibits a significant improvement in terms of both features and quality. The cabin has a new digital multi-information display in addition to a new analog instrument cluster. The modern conveniences are further enhanced by the sleek and modern center of the dashboard, which, depending on the model, houses either a 2DIN integrated music system or a nine-inch touchscreen. Modern touches like a restyled glove compartment and steering wheel further improve the cabin.
The Triton is equipped with two front SRS airbags, an engine immobilizer, electronic brakeforce distribution, ISOFIX anchors, anti-lock brakes, and a driver's knee airbag as standard safety features. A blind spot monitoring system and a front collision avoidance system are among the extra features available on the GLS and Athlete variants. In addition to the usual array of safety equipment, the Athlete edition receives side and curtain-mounted airbags, front and rear parking sensors, and a lane departure warning system.
