| Video Discription | In the early morning hours, a relentless downpour that lasted until approximately 9 am triggered a devastating landslide at Dommawlein in Pyndengrei area of Meghalaya’s West Khasi Hills District. Tragically, the landslide claimed the lives of two sisters, aged 15 and 10 who were asleep when the disaster struck. Emergency services were deployed soon after the news of the landslide spread throughout the area. Local authorities, police personnel, and disaster management teams arrived promptly to commence rescue operations and provide immediate assistance to the affected people. Speaking to EastMojo BD Marak, West Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police said that at present the water level is receding but the situation may worsen if the heavy downpour continues. He also said that locality heads have made announcements to all those staying near the riverside should vacate the houses.
