| Video Discription | The goal of body masculinization is to take away features from the body that can be viewed as feminine, and replace them with more masculine qualities. Todays patient has gone under Dr. Agha’s signature Lower Body Lift, but with a twist— without accentuating the curvatures of the hips and buttocks as he normally would. As Dr. Agha explains, a body lift specifically addresses the excess skin found on the abdomen, outer thighs, buttocks, waist and hips. Although it is also known as circumferential tummy tuck or belt lipectomy, the lower body lift that Dr. Agha performs is more comprehensive and thus, more corrective. The lower body lift is a combination of a circumferential abdominoplasty, buttock lift, and outer or lateral thigh lift. Through the circumferential abdominoplasty incisions, the excess lower back, waist, upper thigh, and abdominal tissues are excised. The buttock tissue is elevated and secured at an appropriately marked position on the lower back. The outer thighs are undermined selectively, elevated, and secured at a higher position to complete the lower body lift. This results in a smoother contour of the outer thigh skin. Finally, the excess abdominal tissue is excised, and the abdominoplasty is completed in front. Body masculinization surgery is an important component of the female-to-male transition, offering many physical and psychological benefits for the trans man.
