Set in 2029 in an alternate timeline where the X-Men are dead and no new mutants had been born in 25 years, Logan finds James Howlett, the ex-mutant superhero known as Wolverine, eking out a living as a chauffeur. Logan is also caring for the aged Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) as the mutant telepath is dying of degenerative brain disease. When a young mutant named Laura (Dafne Keene) AKA X-23, is placed in the reluctant Logan's care, the trio embarks on a cross-country journey to deliver Laura to a fabled mutant sanctuary.
