Converting a closet into a stealth grow box is a DIY project most people can do themselves. A grow closet with LED lights has some pros and some cons compared to the traditional grow tent, which we discuss in the video.
A grow room closet can be made very simple without much fuss. The most basic and essential features a grow closet needs are:
1. Light (see links at the bottom)
2. Air circulation (air exchange)
The type and power of the LED grow light needs to match the size of the grow closet and the type of plants grown within. A small and low-power grow light will only satisfy low-light plants, like microgreens. High-light plants, like tomatoes and peppers, would need a more powerful grow light.
Air circulation is necessary to bring in fresh air (CO2) for the plants and to prevent humidity and mold build up. For small scale grows, having the closet door slightly open may be enough. Or a small USB-fan will do the trick. The amount of air circulation will also depend on how powerful lamps are used. The more power a lamp uses, the more heat it generates. This heat may need to be circulated out from the closet depending on the inside and outside temperatures.
If one chooses to build a slightly more complex grow closet, as we did in our video, fitted exhaust computer fans pulling air out, air intake holes, lamp and cord holes, are worth considering. Possibly also hooks and screws to hold various shelves in place or hardware outside the closet.
We hope this video inspires indoor growers to create a green area that can fit into any house or apartment. How much effort you put into your grow closet is up to you. As you can see, it doesn't take much to get going.
Our LEDTonic Q2 LED grow light covers a 2x2' (60x60 cm) tent well with medium to high light intensity, making it a great choice for all types of plants. From microgreens and leafy salads to herbs and spices to tomatoes and peppers.

For larger areas and high-light plants, our larger Q7 grow light should be considered:

The bottom lamp in the video is our coming LEDTonic Q6, which is essentially half a Q7.
Link will be published once the lamp is available.
