They are technically optional, but I feel like if you give them a shot, you'll agree that they add something to your leather craft. Although if you have a different take on these tips, or some cool tips of your own, let me know in the comments! I've focused on those weird little details since I started in leather work. I obsessed like crazy about saddle stitching until I got it down. Then I moved on to burnishing which is where I learned it's mostly about sanding. And the leather balm is just something nice to do for your customer. Leather sits on a shelf drying out until it's made into something.
