| Video Discription | This song is one that I had in my thoughts for a long time but never got to doing it until I saw the craft that Manjummel Boys was. I am always in awe of Chidambaram's works and was lucky enough to restore a song for his earlier film Jaan E Mann. I had refrained from doing this song because of the incredible depth this has in it and that was strongly influenced even by the flaws it carried in its quality. It was a very complicated process to find a balance between remastering it for quality versus its emotional value and to be honest I mulled over this for many months in my spare time. I think at this point, I am emotionally happy with this while leaving some of the remnants of the time it was recorded in. I think that imperfection holds a lot of value to what this song has for many of us. I saw quite a few restored ones on YouTube but in my personal view they slightly missed the point. Songs like this isnt about just cleaning up and re equalising or tonal shaping. It is also about realising what factor holds the nostalgia IMHO. This is my gift to the incredible team of Manjummel Boys and my listeners. I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed the time spent on this. PS: I didnt restore this song in the movie though. Gunaa is a 1991 Indian Tamil-language psychological romantic drama film directed by Santhana Bharathi and co-written by Sab John. The film stars Kamal Haasan, Rekha and newcomer Roshini in her only screen appearance. It revolves around a newly released psychiatric patient (Haasan) who kidnaps an heiress (Roshini) to make her fall in love with him. He believes she is an avatar of goddess Abhirami and it is his destiny to marry her. |
