In this installment of my French Revolution series, I examine the changes that took place between 1791 and 1793 that transformed the French Revolution from a liberal revolution seeking a constitutional monarchy to a radical revolution seeking an egalitarian republic. The radicalization was a product of Louis XVI's indecision, the start of the French Revolutionary Wars, and the growing clout of the Jacobin clubs.
