Review and Smoking an American Spirit Dark Blue Cigarette, which is a full flavored product that only contains U.S. Grown Tobacco, and is meant to be an alternative to the more well known “Original” Blues and “Organic” Turquoises.
Natural American Spirit is an Additive-Free cigarette brand that was first introduced in 1982, and throughout the 1990's, it slowly started to rise in popularity. Then, in 2002, RJ Reynolds bought the brand for $340 million dollars, and since that point, the nameplate has exploded in popularity.
Today, inside the United States, NAS is much more popular than not, and is the largest additive-free brand by far, and is currently produced in North Carolina by the Santa Fe Tobacco Company (SFNTC), a subsidiary of RJR. Outside of the United States, however, AS is produced by Japan Tobacco, who purchased the international rights to the brand in 2015 for $5 billion dollars.
Now, I will admit, I don't know precisely when the "Dark Blue" variety was introduced, nor when the "U.S Grown" line was introduced in general, but I do know that this variety, and the line as a whole, has been around for over 10 years now, if not longer than that.
