++AUDIO AS INCOMING++
8. SOUNDBITE (English) Sepp Blatter, FIFA President:
"The former president? I'm still the president, even suspended, I am the president. The president must be relieved of his duties, otherwise you cannot elect another president. I am not ashamed, I regret, but I'm not ashamed. I am ashamed if you go in depth what has been presented and how all this has been done with the support of you. You were there also to condemn the FIFA president at the very beginning: he is in corruption, he is the conscience, he should know that all the people they have been arrested, it's his mistake, he has done everything wrong."
STORYLINE:
FIFA presidential hopeful Chung Mong-joon was suspended for six years on September 29th 2015, while FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke was banned for 90 days.
The suspensions can be extended by up to 45 days.
Chung, a former FIFA vice president, was found guilty of breaches relating to South Korea's failed bid for the 2022 World Cup.
Valcke had already been put on leave in August after being the subject of allegations over a deal for black market sales of tickets to 2014 World Cup matches.
FIFA President Sepp Blatter and UEFA President Michel Platini, the man who had been favoured to take over as FIFA leader, were also both suspended for 90 days on Thursday, plunging soccer's governing body deeper into crisis.
Blatter and Platini were suspended by the FIFA ethics committee in the wake of a Swiss criminal investigation.
The decision seemingly ends Platini's bid to succeed Blatter as FIFA president in the emergency election in February 2016.

New acting FIFA President Issa Hayatou promised on October 9th to work to improve the image of the world football governing body, which has been beset by allegations of corruption at the highest level.
Hayatou, a 69-year-old Cameroonian, who has a serious kidney illness that requires regular dialysis sessions, is currently in Yaounde, the Cameroon capital, and is expected to travel to Zurich soon.
Blatter's suspension stops a career that began at FIFA in 1975 and includes the last 17 years as president.
