A seafood tradesman since the age of 16, Pushparaj knows his seafood well, and so armed with this insight, a regular supply of the freshest catch from Malpe fishing harbour, and the recipes of his mother and mother-in-law, the couple opened Shoaling Fish Mangalore Lunch Home, a tiny 12-seater eatery in a quiet bylane of BTM 2nd Stage to serve delicious Udupi style coastal preparations. I visited them twice, the first time unannounced, and relished a range of their seafood fare - fish, prawns, crabs - cooked by the couple with care, and at prices that offer great value for money. It quite reminded me of an eatery in Kudla, such is the authenticity of the food and hospitality one encounters here. If you love seafood, definitely make tracks here.
