It is also called Bisi Bele Bath. Sambar rice is nothing but the Sambar & the rice are cooked together as a single pot recipe. The Sambar rice is made with rice, toor dal, mixed vegetables, tamarind juice, spices & herbs. It is a delicious food enriched with proteins, carbohydrates and other healthy nutrients. It can be served with fried papadum, vadagam, pickles, potato fries, etc. In this video I have given a simple recipe for making delicious Sambar rice in step by step method. Any one can easily make this delicious food based on my simple cooking steps shown in this video. Serves: 4 Ingredients: 1. Cooking Ingredients & Spices: Rice 1 cup (200g) Toor dal ½ cup (100 g) Water 5 cups for cooking ( 5 x 230 ml ) 2 carrots chopped 20 to 25 Beans chopped 10 Small onions (shallots ) chopped 2 Tomatoes chopped 5 Green chillies slit Oil 2 tablespoon Coriander leaves – 1 handful chopped Cooking Spices: Chilli powder 3 tsp Coriander powder 3 tsp Turmeric powder 1 tsp Asafoetida 1/2 tsp or 1 pinch 5 Curry leaves Tamarind – 1 small lemon size Salt to taste or 3 tsp 2. Tempering Spices: Mustard seeds 1 tsp 5 Red chillies Cumin seeds 1 tsp 10 Curry leaves Asafoetida ½ tsp Oil 2 tablespoons Ghee 2 tsp (optional) Preparation & Cooking methods: Watch this video for step by step preparation and cooking method.
