As voted for by everyone in the latest poll, today we’ll be exploring Smile, the 2022 psychological horror written and directed by Parker Finn. Starring Sosie Bacon, Jessie T Usher, Kal Penn, Caitlin Stasey, Kyle Gallner and Robin Weigert - it follows Rose Cotter, a psychiatrist that begins to lose her mind after witnessing the traumatic death of a patient. Based on his 2020 short film, Laura Hasn’t Slept, about a girl looking for a therapist to cure her nightmares, Smile effectively puts us in the shoes of the psychiatrist Laura goes to see. The issue of course being that Rose also has a hidden trauma from her childhood trying to rear its ugly head, with the melding of both leading to disastrous consequences and a frightening game of cat and mouse.
