Video Discription |
Transitioning from copper land line phone service to VoIP phone service (Telephone over the internet) requires some planning. Setting up VoIP phone service hardware takes only 15-20 minutes and you can be making VoIP calls.
This is one of a series of videos showing the process of how to convert your land line residential phone system to VoIP.
Selecting a VoIP phone service provider is an important step. It costs time and money to change systems. Some providers charge to port your phone number. You may have to buy equipment and pay some installation fees. If your modem router isn't compatible or if your internet speed is too slow you may be disappointed with the call quality.
On of the reasons why I selected Voipy because that had customer service 24 hour 7 days a week. I called them with a list of questions. There was a small wait time. All of my questions were answered accurately. My Grandstream 801 ATA arrived on time, though I had to wait 30 days for Verizon to port my phone number.
I was prepared for the day when my phone number was ported. I had run some quad telephone cable and installed a RJ11 jack next to my modem router. I had already disabled the SIP ALB on my Netgear modem router. I just plugged everything in and I had phone service.
