| Video Discription | HOMA-IR stands for homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance It's essentially a measure of how hard the body is working to keep your glucose and insulin in balance HOMA-IR is calculated by taking a fasting glucose and multiplying that number by a fasting insulin level and the total of which is divided by a constant 22.5 This video explains insulin resistance and the need to have this valuable test Fasting glucose x fasting insulin/ 22.5 Optimal Range: 1.0 (0.5–1.4) · Less than 1.0 means you are insulin-sensitive which is optimal. · Above 1.9 indicates early insulin resistance. · Above 2.9 indicates significant insulin resistance.
