He explains how Holika's brother, Hiranyakashyap wanted to be the controller of the whole universe. He was deeply blinded by his ego that could not tolerate his son Prahlad worshipping Lord Vishnu. He even tried to kill Prahlad in various ways by putting him in a pit of snakes and throwing him under the elephants. He even threw Prahlad in a burning fire with his sister Holika. But Holika got burned instead. And Prahlad was saved by Lord Vishnu due to his sheer devotion to the Lord. |
