Mallamma ajji’s new recipe is OBBATTU SAARU, Which is derivative SARU / DAL SOUP / RASAM from south Indian especially karnataka’s cultural and heritage sweet OBBATTU also called HOLIGE.

Lets learn how to make this delicious easy obbattu Saary recipe:

After boiling the Thogari bele (kannada), Toor Dal (hindi), Split Red Gram(English) in water, when you decant the liquid you get is main Ingredient for this OBBATTU SARU.

INGREDIENTS FOR MASALA:

Chopped onion – 2Nos.,
Garlic – 2Nos.,
Curry leaves,
Jeera – 1 spoon,
Dry Coconut – ¼ cup,
Fresh wet coconut – ½ cup,
Sambar powder – 5 spoons,
Tamarind – 25 grams.

Chopped onions, garlic (skin removed), curry leaves, and jeera and fried in oil and along with coconut and sambar powder in grounded in mixer.
This mixture is added to the dal soup decanted. And salt and tamarind juice is also added.
This mixture is boiled for 5 minutes and the OBBATTU SARU is ready to eat with rice and drink as it is as hot soup.
