| Video Discription | . Hernias are very common and they require surgery to fix. . This is a medium sized hernia sac (the scrotum looking bulge). The first part of the video shows me getting around the umbilical stalk (the belly button). I then lift the belly button off of the underlying fascia. This is because the hernia is just above the umbilical stalk, and I will need several centimeters of cleared off tissue in all directions around the hernia defect in order to do a secure repair. . I then skeletonize the hernia sac by dissecting right on it, down to the fascia. .
