| Video Discription | This is kind of a full circle video for me. One of my most popular uploads on this channel is a video of Mike Campbell discussing his Rickenbacker 12-string that Tom posed with on the cover of the “Damn The Torpedoes” album. This is also one I knew I was going to have to do eventually on the channel, and I felt the opportunity is right. This is one of my all-time favorite songs by Tom Petty. This song broke the unusual “new wave” mold that the band had been cast into with their first two albums, and this song (the whole album, really) proved that Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers did their own thing. They were a rock band that stood above their competition. I hope I did it justice. Guitar (the only one to use) is 2000 Rickenbacker 360/12CW Carl Wilson signature, amp is 2021 Fender ‘68 Custom Vibro Champ Reverb, effects are amp’s digital Hall Reverb and Keeley Compressor Plus. For eagle eyed Rickenbacker aficionados watching, you will notice that my Carl Wilson model has had some (reversible) modifications to it. The first is that the white plexiglass pickguard with Carl Wilson’s signature has been replaced with a plain white pickguard from Pickguardian.com so as to preserve the original. The “R” tailpiece was also replaced by a similar-yet-different aftermarket tailpiece from Winfield Vintage. Both the original pickguard and tailpiece are still with me, so they can be put back on the guitar at any time. The strings I am using on the guitar are a set of Curt Mangan strings that were custom assembled by me to Rickenbacker's recommended gauges direct from Curt Mangan’s website. I only use Curt Mangan strings on my Rickenbacker 12 and 6 string guitars, in the Rickenbacker recommended gauges.
