| Video Discription | Beefy French Onion Pot Pie & Apple Dumplings | Appalachian Cooking Beefy French Onion Pot Pie Ingredients: 1.5 pounds ground beef 2 onions, chopped 2 cans (10-1/2 ounces) condensed French onion soup, undiluted 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese 1.5 cans refrigerated buttermilk biscuits, the big ones Directions: Preheat oven to 350°. In a large skillet, cook the beef and onions over medium heat until beef is no longer pink, drain. Stir in soup and bring to a simmer. Transfer mixture to an ungreased casserole dish and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Top with biscuits. Bake 15-20 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown. Apple Dumpling Stew Ingredients: 1 stick butter 6-7 apples, peeled and sliced thin 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup white sugar 1 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp ginger 1/2 tsp nutmeg 2-4 cups water Dumplings: 1 cup self-rising flour 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 cup heavy cream, maybe a little more if dough isn't moist enough Directions: Melt butter in a large Dutch oven. Add apples, water, brown sugar, sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg. Cover and cook 15 minutes, until apples are tender. While apples are cooking make dumpling dough. Mix the flour with vanilla and cream. You want the dough to be moist so add more cream if needed. When apples are tender add more water if needed. Drop dumpling dough in using a small spoon or cookie scoop. Cover and cook 7-8 more minutes until dumplings are cooked through. |
