| Video Discription | National Park number 49 for the year takes me to Guadalupe National Park in west Texas where I couldn't pass up the hike to Devils Hall! Even though Guadalupe Mts is officially in Texas, its just a short drive from Carlsbad Caverns and Carlsbad New Mexico! It was perfect to hit up both parks two days in a row. Guadalupe Mountains NP is home to the 4 highest peaks in Texas! It was a windy day, so I chose not to hike to Guadalupe Peak- the official high point of Texas and instead hiked to Devil's Hall. Devil's Hall was the first recommendation of the ranger on duty and I am so happy I too her advise. The hike was just over 2 miles, but went through a wash for the majority of the hike. There are boulders to climb over and a scramble up some "stairs" to lead you to the hall itself. So much fun and so worth the extra effort on rough terrain. I checked out Frijole Ranch while I was in the area before moving on to Big Bend National Park! Guadalupe Mountains in Salt Flat, Texas is the native homeland of the Mescalero Apache Nation.
