| Video Discription | A decent start here by the good people at BT Sport. Some interesting, informative technical analysis by Steve McManaman and David James. James, in particular provides two good pieces of information here. Firstly, @ 1:59, where James talks about the importance of getting your head over the ball; the freeze frame at 2:13 demonstrates this perfectly.... Secondly, the comment about the goalkeeper jumping just before the strike (@ 2:41). An interesting technical point by James... Yes you can perhaps argue the keeper needs to make the jump to create momentum, but as James states "as the ball's travelling, he's got to land before he can make the dive..." He goes on to state the keeper was most likely beaten by the pace of the strike but perhaps, as he indicates, it's might just be a genuine technical fault that creeps into other goalkeepers game. Two things the typical football fan does not look out for, and it's good telecasting for BT Sport to provide its paying audience insightful, practical presentations and analysis. Also serves as a good piece of advice for the kids (and grown ups) to help improve their own technique Here's hoping it continues... |
