Gauranga Das gives the example of our body and how we want to have the prosperity of keeping this body healthy and fit and we dread the adversity of it being sick or invalid. But the Art of Focus is to focus on serving the will of the Lord despite being healthy or ill. From Gita's perspective, distraction means constantly calculating an increase in prosperity and decrease in adversity but focus means serving the will of the Lord despite prosperity and adversity.
