Somehow we managed to beat the crowds and more or less got to enjoy the blissful aura of the famed vermillion coloured Torii gates (word is there are 10,000 of them!) that line the hike without all the hustle and bustle that usually goes with it. It's a perfect day for us and even though the hike up to the top is quite gruelling, the calmness you get as you traverse the various routes is next to none.
