What's shocking though is how good FUBAR is, despite some rote plot elements and lackluster action sequences. FUBAR talks about the harm that can be caused by people who put their profession ahead of their personal life. This is done using situational comedy to highlight the underdeveloped social aspects of their characters and raise questions about the legitimacy of their respective obligations. For example, is it okay to miss big family events while something else is deemed more important? The hilariously turbulent relationship between soon-to-retire CIA agent Luke Brunner and his daughter Emma responds with a resounding no. Their inevitable conflict, created by sudden change of plans and forcing them to work together on a task, is mostly conveyed by Barbaro's powerful portrayal of Emma, whose passionate arguments display genuine distaste for her father's past relationships. Schwarzeneggar is also convincing with his role as the secret agent transforming into an indifferent father figure. Always fond of her "perfect daughter", she is visibly surprised to learn that she too is keeping secrets. Of course, all their bickering is covered in humor - a hypocritical rumor about importance of telling the truth takes a turn when speaker brutally s someone. Despite ridiculous situations they found themselves in, Luke and Emma's family drama remained relatable throughout the eight episodes of season. While not all of jokes go as intended, their immature jokes are often a hilarious reflection of on-screen chemistry. Milan Carter's Berry, who is Luke's manager and best friend, is also fascinating. Whether it's setup for line that hints at Schwarzenegger's past as bodybuilder, or flat-faced reframing of modernized term, it usually pays off, although the payoff is somewhat predictable. This results in some really fun encounters, heartfelt moments, and a few short exchanges that go beyond an expected cliché.
