Skull Cave, The Massacre of Fort Michilimackinac, Pontiac’s Rebellion. Mackinac Island, Michigan Documentary and Haunted History & Information.
Countless lives have been lost on this soil, battles, wars, attacks, massacres, and deaths. It is one of the most haunted and sacred spiritual places in Michigan, if not the most haunted place. Why is it called Skull Cave? And how was Skull Cave formed? Mackinac Island has long been a burial location for the Anishinabek people; the Odawa (Ottawa,) Ojibwe, and Potawatomi Native American Tribes. It is common practice for them to bury their dead near water and their villages. They have ceremonies called "Feasts of the Dead" or "Ghost Suppers." The Odawa and Chippewa have worked with Mackinac State Historic Parks to protect them and give them control and custody over their ancestors remains on Mackinac Island and Mackinaw City. The Island contains 3 cemeteries, The Post (military) Cemetery, St. Ann's, and The Protestant Cemetery, and countless Native American burials, bural sites, and burial mounds; including the Spirit Garden mound and the wooden turtle and Sault tribe memorial. There are also many stories and legends on the Island, like Lover's Peak or when they found and discovered human remains & bones/a burial site during a hotel excavation and construction. Or the haunted Grand Hotel filled with ghosts. Featuring the Skull Cave area and signs up close and in HD. The attack at Fort Michilimackinac on 1763. Pontiac's Rebellion, the Native American movement when the Natives, the Ojibwe, Odawa, Wyandot, and Potawatomi tribes, attacked their nearby British forts in Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois. Michilimackinac's British Commander (leader) George Etherington refused to listen to warnings. The massacre attack happened in seconds. The Natives spared the French & French Canadians. Alexander Henry 'The Elder' (English Fur Trader) and his story and memoirs of being captured & owned/enslaved by the Ojibwe Chief Minweweh (Minavavana, Menehwehna, or Le Grand Sauteux) and saved by Chief Wawatam and staying overnight in Skull Cave, which was found to be covered in human bones and skulls. Skull Cave was used as a Native American burial site until the 1700's. Now when people visit the cave, they have paranormal experiences and sometimes have even caught things on camera. Reports of seeing and hearing ghosts, spirits, shadow figures, and apparitions in the area. Or having strange, creepy, or scary feelings of a presence or energy around the place. Mackinac Island is one of the best places to visit and Michigan and has some of the best things to do and places to travel to for tourists or people living in Michigan. You can ride the ferries to the Island, but can only visit the Island during the warmer seasons. This place is filled with history and historical events. A great and educational place to travel and bring the kids, enjoy some fudge, the carriage rides and tours, and the view of the bridge and great lake Huron. Although, be aware, this is one of the most haunted locations and areas (cities) in Michigan!
