When I work with clients, I advise them to stick to two finishes, however. Brass and Oil Rubbed bronze can go together, as can nickel and oil rubbed bronze. You'll see brass and chrome together in the finest hotel rooms across Europe. Two finishes can be friends -- three's a crowd. If you've got several light fixtures visible through a few rooms in an open concept -- chances are good they'll probably look better if they're all the same finish. They can be different throughout your home, however -- and look great. This happens a lot when you've remodeled one room and updated the hardware. I do think it's beautiful to mix finishes overall in design -- with lamps, trays, knobs on various furniture pieces. One place I really recommend sticking to one hardware finish would be the door hardware through your home. |
