I am Dr.Vyas and I am here with ______
And _______, let me ask you. What do you desire to have done?
Yeah… To look a little bit younger.
All that is a universal desire. I suppose we can talk about it. Tell me specifically what areas bother you.
These areas I would say and it started to hang a little bit… my skin… yeah…
Fair enough… well that’s just part of the ageing process…
It is… yeahhh…
As I look at you, I do see that you do have little bit deeper folds right here. I also notice that your fold starting from the corner of your mouth going down right here is a little bit more prominent on the right side, bit less on the left side but never the less, that’s what it is. And to have a little bit of asymmetry is very normal and very natural. We all, none of us are absolutely perfectly symmetrical. So, what I plan to do is what we call as a facelift and facelift is essentially, I’ll show on one side of the face. Turn your head that way dear.
Basically it goes making a… let me have a pen.
I would essentially make a cut right here – a horizontal cut, which will be easily hidden in your hairline. Then, what I prefer is going along the natural border of the ear, far in the ear border, go between the ear border and the cheek, and then extend the cut behind the ear as far as I need to go. And the reason I prefer this incision as opposed to some surgeons preferring an incision straight up and down in front of the ear is because this incision is more obscure and less noticeable. And after it heals in few months, this scar should be barely noticeable even on a close scrutiny. So, through this incision, I will lift the skin off the face and as I will show you here, pull it up and that will improve the appearance of the face. I will show you on both sides, essentially like that. In addition to that, just to further add, the tissue underneath the skin that I normally pull and tighten, and remove some of it, I will use that to fill the fold right here (left nasolabial)… fill the fold right here (right nasolabial)… fill in this fold (fold at the right lip corner) and fill in this fold (fold at the left lip corner). And that will give… the whole idea is when you are done with a face lift, the patient should look natural… should not look surgically done… and that’s the objective.
Any questions???
It will be all good.
Wonderful. We will take good care of you.
Yes. Thank you.
But you need to be aware of the fact that after all it is a surgical procedure and any surgical procedure carries some degree of risks. In my hands, the risk has been minimal. But nevertheless I’d like to mention a few things such as bleeding. You don’t have any health risk factors fortunately. But bleeding and collection of any blood underneath the skin… that happens… rarely… but it does happen. Two, occasionally facial weakness of facial nerves. In my hands in 35 plus years that I have been doing facial cosmetic surgery, I have never had a permanent facial weakness in any patient I have done to date. Temporary… yes… because you are dealing with surgical dissection in the vicinity of the facial nerves and these nerves get stretched a little bit sometimes but they recover, by and large in few days. Sometimes, occasionally, I have read in some patients it takes few weeks but they recover. Skin necrosis, people talk about… that skin can die. The technique that I use, I am not putting tension on the skin. I am putting tension on the deeper tissues. So the incidence of skin necrosis in my hands has been practically zero. Besides, I choose my patients. I don’t operate on smokers. Smokers definitely have a higher incidence of skin necrosis compared to non smokers. So I choose not to operate on smokers. And I just, basically if I find some patient who is smokes, I tell them to quit smoking and when you are done quitting smoking atleast for a month or so and you have committed yourself to be a non smoker, then come back and we will do it. So that is basically it.
Any other questions?
Not really.
Ok then. Alright. Wonderful. Thank you.
You have explained everything good.
Thank you.
