| Video Discription | Hey GS family, @erik.nugshots here! I’m taking over the account to share some photos I captured when I was on-site a few weeks back. First up we have a live 360 of Apple Fritter. Since I have the mic, I thought I’d take you on a little behind the scenes tour of how this video was made. It all starts with selecting a stalk to shoot in the flower room. This is always the hardest part! I’m looking for a few things when surveying the canopy for a 360-worthy stalk. It has to be straight and symmetrical so that it can rotate evenly around a central point. A lot of colas have a slight banana shape that will cause them to look uneven when spun. Once I find the straightest and most even branches, it comes down to which one is the best representation of the strain. I also consider things like if the branch is close to a walkway (possible popped trichomes from workers walking by), or if there are leaves or nugs that were squished up against the trellis. Once I have my winning branch, I trim it up. I believe cannabis growers are really just growing trichomes, so I want to show those trichomes off as much as possible. I try to remove any fan leaves that obscure the view of the trichomes, but its easy too remove too many leaves. I still want to have enough leaves to show off the structure of the live plant. Once everything is trimmed up perfectly, the shooting begins. I have a computer controlled rig that ensures everything happens with precision from this point forward. I take one photo, then the plant is rotated exactly one degree, then another photo is taken, then the plant is rotated another degree. This process is repeated 360 times for about 15 minutes until the plant is captured from every angle. I then play those photos back at 30 frames per second to make a video. Making the videos from stills like this is a lot more time consuming, but the quality is unmatched. If I shot a 4k video of a stalk spinning, the quality would only be 8 megapixels versus the 50 megapixels that I capture with stills. Do you have any more questions about how this was made?
