I'll be looking through what Three Houses tells us about Edelgard through everything from the main story to paralogues to Support conversations, taking a look at the context of Fodlan which turned her into who she is, and contrasting her with the other Three Houses Lords: Dimitri, Claude and Rhea. This video is made to be able to be listened to in the background without looking at the screen, but I've done my best to put evidence for all my claims on screen as I make them, so you can watch it as a video as well. There's four rough sections to the video: An explanation of the very basics of how FE3H's writing philosophy works, and how a complete understanding of the story can only be obtained from playing every path. Then, an explanation of how Fódlan under the Church of Seiros is a nightmarish place to live thanks to the nobility and Crest culture, and how each of the Lords deals with that. Afterwards, I defend Edelgard from some of the accusations I see most often thrown at her that I don't find to be all that valid, including the idea that she could've avoided conflict with the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus and the Leicester Alliance, as well as criticism of her alliance with Those Who Slither in the Dark. Finally, I explain the things I don't like about Claude and Dimitri as potential rulers, and why I think Edelgard makes for the best future for Fódlan.
