My way is easy and the pomegranate seeds come out without much effort. So if you want to know the best way on how to get the seeds out of a pomegranate this is it. It's fun too because you get to whack the pomegranate with a wooden spoon. So if you have any agressions to get out, you'll love doing this. What you are going to do is cut out the stem end of the pomegranate by cutting at an angle so that you core that stem out. Sometimes you will see the seeds when you remove the stem and sometimes you won't (as in the case of this video). Then you are going to score the pomegranate starting from the removed stem end and continue down the fruit until you are a good 2 inches from the other end. You will continue to score 6 to 8 times around the whole pomegranate. And don't score so deep that you make the juice come out. Just score deep enough to penetrate the skin. Then work over a bowl. Gently pull apart the pom but try not to break any pieces off. You want to keep the whole thing together and open it like a flower. Hold the pomegranate with the opening facing down in your hand. Take a wooden spoon and whack, yes whack your pom and watch the seeds fall out. Keep whacking till they all fall out. You can pull open each segment as you go to help in releasing the seeds. Once all the seeds are out, pick out any white membrane and discard it. Pomegranates are super healthy for you. They contain good amounts of vitamin C, B's and polyphenols which are antioxidants that are great for our bodies. Next I will show you how to eat a pomegranate. Make my pomegranate smoothie recipe, it's dynamite delicious! Ingredients: 1 cup of pomegranate seeds 1 cup frozen blueberries 1 banana 1/4 of a ripe avocado handful of fresh parsley and cilantro 1 cup of milk, of your choosing 4 to 5 ice cubes Blend until smooth. If you are using a vitamix or blendtec (and you should), one minute should do it. You can also freeze these pomegranate seeds so you can have them year round. Just place them on a cookie sheet in a single layer and freeze for a couple of hours and then place in a zip loc bag and you'll have seeds all year long.
