The first batch consisting of 8 Myanmar nationals were deported on March 8, from the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport in Imphal. On March 9, witnessed the second batch consisting of a total of 22 immigrants were deported in two batches. The first batch today included two minors, were deported at around 12:30 pm and the second batch were airlifted to Moreh at around 2 pm. Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh also took to X formerly known as Twitter, informing, "First batch of Myanmar nationals who entered India illegally were deported today. Although India is not signatory to the 1951 Refugee Convention, it is given shelter and aid to those fleeing the crisis in Myanmar on humanitarian grounds with a systematic approach."
