After having enjoyed tremendous success as a stage and screen actress, Jane Fonda now focuses much of her time on activism and social change and has long been known for activism and advocacy on environmental issues, human rights, and the empowerment of women and girls. She presented CEC's Environmental Hero Awards to two individuals who have dedicated their lives to making an impact on climate change and set an example for people across California: Goldman Environmental Prize winner Nalleli Cobo, a climate activist who led a coalition to permanently shut down a toxic oil-drilling site in her community and Cesar Aguirre, Oil and Gas Director for the Central California Environmental Justice Network (CCEJN). The ceremony was emceed by past Environmental Hero Award recipient Florencia Ramirez, kitchen activist, podcaster, and author of “Eat Less Water."
