| Video Discription | Dr Nagi Safa will describe the operative steps of a Nissen's fundoplication. This is the case of 35 year's old male patient, suffering from GERD. He has been treated for years without improvement. After a long and meticulous discussion with the patient, Dr Safa decided to proceed to a laparoscopic floppy Nissen fundoplication. The patient is placed in a lithotomy position with the head of the table tilted up 30 degrees. Dr Safa stands between the patient's legs. The assistant will be on the left of patient, holding the camera and one grasper. Four trocars are placed through the abdomen. The laparoscope is introduced through a port placed in the midline superior to the umbilicus. Placing the 5-mm trocars on either side of the midline allows for triangulation and avoids interference with the camera's line of vision. |
