While lot of children may not require surgery, some children develop worsening kidney swelling and start losing kidney function. Such children are usually diagnosed using Kidney ultrasound and Renal scan and may require pyeloplasty. These days most of the pyeloplasties are done using laparoscopy at our MITR Hospital in Navi Mumbai, India. The outcomes of surgery are as good as open surgery with fast recovery and virtually no scars. We feel Laparoscopic Surgery is the best technique for treatment of PUJ obstruction/ Kidney surgery in a child. |
