His open letter read by a narrator is as follows:
Thank you for sharing the link of the video with me. While I do not follow such links of polemics as the one you sent, as they do not concern theology - they are not of an academic level – in order to reply to your question, I chose to tune in briefly, for no more than five minutes in fact and fortuitously landed on the segment in which Fr. Alar mentioned my name and Dan commented on father's misspoken remarks about me. Since the fledgling father put words into my mouth that I have never uttered, I feel it my place to extend a word of fraternal correction to the good padre; a public error requires a public correction.
First, I am aware that both of these individuals frequented the same ‘college,’ and neither has obtained a doctoral degree in sacred theology. Second, they appear to give the odd impression that they are somehow qualified by the Church to determine the veracity of the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta's writings - a false impression.
Third, as a doctor of sacred of theology (S.Th.D.) of the Pontifical University of Rome that is authorized by the Holy See on the writings of the Servant of God Luisa Picccareta that enjoys the accolades of over 40 bishops, and having completed a dissertation in the fields of both dogmatic and spiritual theology, and as the episcopally appointed theological peritus of three bishops in three causes of beatification (all of whom are mystics), I offer the following fraternal correction.
At the 1:23:00 video mark Fr. Alar remarked, "We hear Fr. Iannuzzi and others say, 'you can't dispute her because her works have Imprimaturs...'", to which Dan added, "There are private revelations that have Imprimaturs that I don't believe in."
My fraternal correction. The above words Fr. Alar attributes to me are patently false; for nowhere are they to be found in any of my publications, articles or talks. Again, as a theologian my language is precise, and not haphazardly paraphrased as others are fond of speaking.
So to set the record straight I am attaching the article I wrote on the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta months ago. Many of you have already received this PDF. Nowhere will you find the words Fr. Alar incorrectly attributes to me in this article or in any other place. Perhaps Fr. Alar has mistakenly attributed to me that words of the theologian Fr. Jordan Aumann and Raymond Cardinal Burke, both of whom uphold the teaching that it is “reprehensible” for one to oppose publicly a work that bears the Church’s official seals of the approval. In this work bearing the Imprimatur of Cardinal Raymond Burke, it states, "While the freedom remains for a member of the Church to reject a private revelation which has received official ecclesiastical approval, it would be at the same time reprehensible to speak publicly against it.”
(Jordan Aumann, Spiritual Theology, Christian Classics, 1980, p. 492; Mariology, A Guide for Priests, Deacons, Seminarians and Consecrated Persons, bearing the Imprimatur of the Most Rev. Raymond L. Burke, and the Nihil Obstat of Fr. Peter Felner, F.I., 2007, Queenship Pub. CA, p. 830)
A person who is duly qualified by the Church to teach theology would not overlook this important distinction, nor would he erroneously attribute the words of one person to another, which sadly appears to be the case here.
I apologize for not having had the time to hear more than the aforementioned five minutes of the link. Again, I am full-time engaged in many pastoral duties.
Continue to join me in praying for the shepherds of whom I consider myself the least. Our Lady forewarned us of the confusion that we are presently experiencing. You have nothing to fear and can rest assure that you will be safeguarded, so long as remain loyal to the three pillars of St. Don Bosco's vision that would arise in these End Times: The Eucharist, the Blessed Virgin Mary and the office of the Papacy.
Thank you for your time and patience. I hope this info has been helpful.
In Christ,
Rev. J.L. Iannuzzi, STL, S.Th.D.
