SIPs also bring discipline in the investment process. Given the usefulness of SIPs, it’s only natural that investors want to get more out of them. In this video, we have explored 4 things that you may have wondered about your SIPs. 1. What should be your SIP frequency? Most of us have monthly SIPs. But what if you did weekly SIP or daily SIP? Could you have got better SIP returns? Our research shows that it doesn’t matter. SIP frequency has little to no impact on your SIP returns. Weekly or daily SIPs will also involve more hassle, so it's better to stick to the monthly version. The monthly frequency also coincides with the frequency of salary that many of us receive. 2. Which is the best date for SIPs? Does it matter which date of the month you do your SIPs? Is there a best SIP date? There isn’t, shows our research. You can choose any date of the month as per your convenience and do your SIPs. 3. Do SIPs done at market dips perform better? Well, they do. But the problem is that you will have to actively track the market and you should always have a surplus to deploy. That’s not possible for most of us. So, normal SIPs, irrespective of market levels, are the best. If you want to add a kicker to your returns, you can invest lump sums when the market falls while investing consistently through SIPs. 4. SIP vs lump sum: Are SIPs always more profitable than lump sums? They aren’t. It depends on the market phase. Lump sums can also do better than SIPs if the market phase is like that.
