| Video Discription | Hawa Abdullah a 51-year-old lady, who has been suffering from a cyst on her back. She had visited the hospital on many occasions a biopsy was done a removal of the tumour was required, sadly she could never afford the surgery, This cyst has progressed in size over the last 17 years. When Hawa heard the PAC Team was arriving in Nigeria she made her way to meet them, by the time she arrived sadly the cyst had burst. There are 1.216 billion people living in the African Region, African countries for decades have under invested in its health care system and with effects of climate change the danger of water shortages and famine are ever present. Coupled with regional conflicts, wars and political instability, many Africans do not get the opportunity to develop their own countries healthcare system. Many people in Africa face acute healthcare crisis and without healthcare insurance, most cannot afford to pay for treatment. The healthcare provisions in some cases do not meet international standards and this can lead to further complications. Where does your support go? Alongside delivering the surgeries we train local staff, healthcare professionals thus access to high quality healthcare is still available in-between our visits. PAC aims to improve healthcare systems and to implement self-sufficiency through legacy projects. Access to Healthcare is a universal human right, unfortunately not all people have access. Surgical intervention is the last option, but a necessary tool to save lives. PAC provides doctors, surgeons and healthcare professionals free of charge and covers the costs along with the after-care associated with surgeries. PAC trained surgeons cover various specialties so that they can carry out complex surgeries that are otherwise unavailable, due to the high cost or lack of expertise in that area.
