| Video Discription | I have one of those credit monitoring services. Last week, I received an e-mail from my credit monitoring service that indicated there had been a change in my credit profile. I logged into the service that I use, and it indicated that the Credit Alert was a "Hard Inquiry." A hard inquiry means that you have applied for credit. I knew that I had not applied for credit. I logged into my credit report and the hard inquiry was from CBNA and it indicated that it was a credit card. A quick Google search indicated that this was likely Citibank. I do not have any credit cards with Citibank. So I called Citibank and was able to determine that, at least at this point, no one had tried to apply for credit with Citibank. So they pointed me to Experian, which was the credit reporting agency that had the inquiry. I called them, and they started a report that they will research with Citibank. They put a fraud alert for 90 days on their system as well as reporting it to all of the other credit reporting agencies. They recommended that I get a police report so that if there is an incident, they can help work with me in the process. This is another reason why think it makes sense to have a credit monitoring service of some type.
