And while it has an elevated welcome bonus for a limited time, it’s a great time to apply! There’s also been some discussion about the “Citi 6 Inquiry Rule,” whereby Citi will deny a credit card application if you have 6 or more inquiries within the past 6 months on the credit report they pull (I accidentally thought it was the past 12 months in the video). It’s apparently a soft rule, meaning it may not be applied all the time. If you get denied for that reason, you may also be able to call the Citi Reconsideration Line and request they pull a different credit report that has a lower inquiry count. That could be a way to turn a denial into an approval. At the time of applying for the Citi Premier Card, I’ve got 6 hard inquiries on my Experian credit report (and I had a good feeling that Citi would pull Experian for my application). So, this application will also be a test of whether or not this 6 Inquiry Rule will be applied to my situation. Let’s see what happens!
