| Video Discription | Rod Mackenzie Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine and the Clinical Director of the Cambridge Major Trauma Centre. Dr Rod Mackenzie is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine with Cambridge University Hospitals. He is a career emergency physician who believes Emergency Medicine is a process rather than a place and that whole systems approaches, incorporating injury prevention and control, are central to effective trauma care. He has civilian and military experience of emergency care in and out of hospital over 25 years in a number of settings and was an architect of the East of England Trauma Network. He has been the Clinical Director of the Cambridge Major Trauma Centre for over 10 years and continues to support and supervise research in injury prevention, control and recovery. His early pre-hospital career commenced as a BASICS doctor with MAGPAS. This lead to the development of Magpas Air Ambulance and Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) as a sub-specialist area of medical practice. He is the lead for Clinical Effectiveness with Magpas Air Ambulance, the Vice Chair (immediate past Chair) of the Intercollegiate Board for Training in Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine (IBTPHEM) and an examiner (former Convenor) for the Diploma and Fellowship examinations in Immediate Medical Care. #TraumaCare |
