| Video Discription | It took us more than 7 years of relationship but we are finally visiting Brazil for the first time together! And as Thomas is a great fan of historical places and architecture, we decided to visit the Brazilian Royal Road, a route that connected the gold mines of the Minas Gerais state to the ports of Paraty and Rio de Janeiro. The cities boomed in the 18th century when Brazil was still a colony of Portugal and gold was found and transported to Europe. Tiradentes was founded in 1702 under a different name but was later renamed after its most famous residentes: Tiradentes. He as one of the leader of the Inconfidência movement, an unsuccessful revolution against the Portuguese rule of the colony. The town’s preserved colonial style is a result of the former wealth of the gold rush that took over the Minas Gerais state.
