Join us: https://bit.ly/3Rz1uCH Tension erupted in Manipur’s Ukhrul after armed miscreants suspected to be cadres of the NSCN(IM) prevented voters from entering a polling centre. The incident was reported at the 44/50 K.K. Leishi Phanit Junior High School which is an all-woman polling station. As per reports, the cadres then took control of the polling booth and proceeded to cast votes on behalf of the public. Following the incident, enraged locals destroyed the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Similar, incidents were reported from three other polling booths in Ukhrul district headquarters viz. 44/36 Ukhrul Model High School, 44/41 Ukhrul D1 Greenland Primary School and 44/47 VPH Primary School. In a video that is now doing the rounds on social media miscreants reported to be cadres of NSCN(IM) were seen calling out polling agents and captured EVMs. The incident was reported from the polling booth in VPH Primary School in Viewland East I area. Voting in the state is being held for the remaining 13 segments of the Outer Manipur constituency. The constituency is currently held by Lorho Phoze of the Naga People Front. This time, however, the NPF as a partner in the BJP-led NDA has fielded Kachui Timothy Zimik who is up against Congress’ Alfred K Arthur.
