| Video Discription | Billy’s name is synonymous with St. John’s Basketball as he was an integral part of St. John’s first BIG EAST Tournament championship by defeating No. 1 seed Boston College, 85-77, in 1983. He is often recognized for the iconic Sports Illustrated cover of him sitting on top of the rim at Madison Square Garden holding a “We Are ... St. John’s” sign. A member of the First-Team All-Tournament team, Billy averaged 15 points that memorable season in which the Johnnies were ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation, went 28-5 overall, and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
