This Auspicious Spring Day is also known by different names & is celebrated all over India in various ways ! It is a tradition to eat this Sweet & Bitter mix on Ugadi day after the Pooja. You can also use Neem Flowers or a combination of Neem Leaves & Flowers & also add a Tbsp of dry Coconut & a pinch of Cardamom. Life is Like Bevu Bella, a mix of Sweet Jaggery & Bitter Neem & eating this is a reminder for us to take both the Sweet & Bitter in Life with equanimity as everything is transitory !! People celebrate with taking oil bath, wearing new clothes, doing Pooja & eating Bevu Bella & & feasting with Obbattu or Holige,, Mango Rice or Mavinakayi Chitranna & Kosambari etc. It is also a tradition to read the new Panchanga or the Almanac.
