Amar Pal is noted for his melodious voice and pure rendition of traditional Bengali Lokgeeti or Bengali Folk Songs. He has sung in many dialects of both the Western or Eastern part of Bengal. Bengali Songs has a rich folklore culture and one of the most significant genres would be Provati or songs those are sung at the early morning. These Provati Songs are essentially devotional in nature and are sung in a format of prayers or hymns. Most of the times these songs are dedicated as prayers to Radha and Krishna. The origin of this form of Bengali Folk Songs dates back to the early stages of Bhakti movement in India.
