| Video Discription | I was born in Beograd, Serbia and grew up in Jajce, Bosnia. My mom is Serbian, my dad is Bosnian. Back when I was born the countries were still united in one large country called former Yugoslavia. But in the beginning of the '90's a massive civil war broke out. Suddenly, overnight, my parents became a "mixed marriage" and my brother & me "mixed blood"... I was 8 when we left everything behind, fleeing as refugees. With God's grace it took us a few months to reach the Netherland safely. My parents applied for refugee status, and struggled for 5 years to finally gain Dutch citizenship for us. In those 5 years we all learned Dutch, went from a 1 bedroom appartment to each having our own rooms, and my parents found new careers. It's one of the most forming years of my life, which taught me how to fight and survive in life. In 2015 I touched Indian soil for the first time, there was a strong sense of belonging in my heart. Don't ask me what it is, even I don't know. But I do know that India is home for me. My life is in India now, my parents are in the Netherlands and my brother lives in Hong Kong. I speak Serbian/Bosnian, Dutch, English, a bit of French, German and Hindi. Having such a scattered life across the globe has enriched me as a human.
